Ticket types

Separate lanes from one event.

Choose which ticket types each device accepts — VIP on one door, general admission on another. Every type is on by default, and anything switched off is refused on that device with a clear “Type Not Accepted”.

  • Per device, per event — remembered on the device and never affects other staff.
  • Live counts of checked-in guests for every type.
  • Always obvious — an amber cue on the scanner whenever a device is filtering.
Settings & Preferences

Set it up your way.

Every venue is different. Scan Manager adapts to your environment — whether you need silence in a theatre or maximum vibration at a festival.

  • Sound on/off — plays distinct chimes for valid, duplicate, and invalid tickets. Fully silenceable for quiet venues.
  • Haptics on/off — medium impact for success, heavy for duplicates and errors. Toggle independently from sound.
  • Keep screen awake — prevents the device screen from sleeping mid-event so staff never have to unlock mid-queue.
  • Result display time — choose 1s, 3s, or 5s for how long the scan result overlay stays visible. All settings persist across sessions.
Offline-first architecture

No signal? Keep scanning.

Scan Manager stores everything locally. When the network goes down, scanning continues without interruption. Nothing is lost.

Tickets downloaded on event select

All tickets for an event are cached to local SQLite storage the moment you open it — indexed for instant O(1) lookup.

Check-ins queued locally

When offline, each check-in is saved to a pending queue with a timestamp. The “Pending Sync” counter keeps staff aware of how many are waiting.

Auto-synced on reconnection

The moment connectivity returns, all pending check-ins are uploaded in a batch. The app also syncs every 10 seconds when online to stay up to date.

Optimistic updates

Tickets are marked as used immediately on the device — no waiting for a server round-trip. Scanning stays under 200ms even on the slowest networks.

Duplicate detection

Already-scanned tickets are tracked in local memory. Duplicates are caught instantly — even offline — before ever reaching the server.

Batch sync — up to 300 at once

When reconnecting after a large offline session, all pending check-ins are uploaded together in a single efficient batch request.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does it really work without internet?
Yes. When staff open an event, every ticket is downloaded to the device. Scanning, duplicate detection and check-ins all happen on the device, and each check-in is queued with a timestamp. The moment the connection returns, the queue uploads in one batch, so nothing is lost.
Which barcode formats can it scan?
QR codes, Code-128, Code-39, Code-93, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Aztec, Data Matrix and PDF417, all at the same time with no setup. If your ticketing platform prints it, Scan Manager can almost certainly read it.
Can my team use their own phones?
Yes. The Scan Manager app is free to download on the App Store and Google Play. Staff log in with the invite you send them and only see the scanner for the events you have given them. Need dedicated hardware? We hire scanners too.
How do I get my guest list in?
Drag in a CSV or spreadsheet (CSV, XLSX, XLS and ODS) and the columns are detected automatically, with duplicates caught before import. You can also add tickets by hand, or push them straight from your ticketing platform with the REST API on the Enterprise plan.
What happens if a ticket is used twice?
The second scan shows an amber CHECK verdict with the name on the ticket and the time it was first checked in. It is caught on the device straight away, even offline, and every attempt is logged so you can review it later.
Can different doors accept different tickets?
Yes. Each device can choose which ticket types it accepts for an event (VIP on one door, general admission on another), and zones let you control access to areas within the venue. Tickets that are not accepted are refused with a clear message.
Is there a free trial?
Every plan includes a 7-day free trial with no credit card needed. Create an event, import tickets and scan on the door before you pay a penny.
Do I need a subscription to hire scanners?
Not for hires longer than 24 hours. Email us with your event date, quantity and location and we will confirm availability, pricing and delivery. Delivery costs apply and all hires are subject to availability.
